For most facilities, that starts with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) — the everyday essentials like proper cleaning, pest management, and equipment maintenance that keep your operation running safely. Think of CGMPs as your foundation.
From there, larger facilities must go a step further with a full food safety plan — a documented analysis of the biological, chemical, and physical hazards your facility could face, along with the steps you’ll take to reduce or eliminate those risks. Preventive controls help you identify where your foundation needs reinforcement, and put the right protections in place.
This course, developed by the FSPCA and recognized by the FDA, is one of the official ways to qualify as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual.
