OSHA 30 General Industry

The OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Class is a comprehensive training program developed by OSHA to promote workplace safety and health. It is designed for individuals in the general industry sector, including employers, supervisors, safety professionals, and employees seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills. The course covers various topics such as hazard recognition, PPE, electrical safety, machine guarding, hazard communication, and ergonomics. With the guidance of experienced instructors, participants learn to assess workplace risks, implement safety measures, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards. By completing the course, participants earn a valuable certification and gain the confidence to create a culture of safety in their organizations, fostering a safer and healthier working environment.

1. Mandatory

  • Introduction to OSHA
  • Managing Safety and Health
  • Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection
  • Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection
  • Electrical
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Materials Handling
  • Hazard Communication

2. Elective

  • Hazardous Materials (Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Spray Finishing, Compressed Gases, Dipping and Coating Operations).
  • Permit-Required Confined Spaces.
  • Lockout / Tagout.
  • Machine Guarding.
  • Welding, Cutting, and Brazing.
  • Introduction to Industrial Hygiene.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Ergonomics.
  • Fall Protection.
  • Safety and Health Programs.
  • Powered Industrial Vehicles.

3. Optional – Teach other general industry hazards or policies and/or expand on the mandatory or elective topics. The minimum length of any topic is one-half hour.

 

Successful completion of the OSHA 30-hour General Industry class equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to identify and address potential hazards, reduce workplace accidents, and promote a safer working environment.
