Motor Controls (SACA C-202)

Take your electrical skills to the next level with Electric Motor Control Systems 1 (SACA C-202) — a hands-on training program designed to develop the knowledge and practical competencies required to install, operate, and troubleshoot industrial motor control systems. This is a foundational, hands-on training designed to develop essential industrial electrical skills and prepare you for the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA) credential. SACA’s credentials are industry-driven and recognized for validating real-world competency in key electrical and smart automation technologies used in today’s advanced manufacturing workplaces.

C-202 validates real-world skills in motor control technologies widely used in advanced manufacturing and industrial environments. This credential builds directly on foundational electrical knowledge and prepares learners for more advanced automation and control systems training.

SACA micro-credentials like C-202 are stackable and can contribute toward advanced specialist certifications in automation, control systems, electrical systems, and other Industry 4.0 roles — helping you build a clear career pathway.

  1. Motor Control Safety & Grounding
Apply approved safety practices including lockout/tagout procedures, hazard identification, PPE requirements, and proper grounding techniques in accordance with industry standards and NEC guidelines
  2. Relay Logic & Control Schematics
Interpret and draw ladder diagrams used in industrial control systems. Identify symbols for motors, transformers, contactors, relays, pushbuttons, limit switches, and overload devices. Understand the separation of control and power circuits and basic logic functions (AND, OR, NOT)
  3. Three-Phase Motor Operation
Connect and operate dual-voltage three-phase motors in both high- and low-voltage configurations. Interpret motor nameplates, understand Wye and Delta systems, and apply proper overcurrent protection and overload selection
  4. Manual & Magnetic Motor Starters
Install and test manual starters and magnetic motor control circuits. Work with two-wire and three-wire control systems, adjust overload protection, and design multi-station operator control circuits
  5. Reversing & Jogging Circuits
Connect and operate reversing motor control circuits with mechanical and auxiliary interlocking. Understand forward/reverse operation, motor jogging, and safe directional control methods
  6. Hand-Off-Auto & Sequence Control
Design and operate hand-off-automatic motor control circuits used in pump and process control applications. Connect and configure automatic input devices such as limit switches, float switches, and pressure switches for sequence control
  7. Timer & Control Transformer Applications
Size control transformers. Connect and test On-Delay and Off-Delay timer circuits, and design time-based motor control sequencing for industrial operations
