The Cloud Engineer Boot Camp, designed by Linux Foundation experts, is a six-month boot camp that will give you a top-to-bottom look at key cloud-related fundamentals like Linux at the operating system layer, DevOps, containers, and more. It will also prepare you to pass the Linux Foundation Certified System Administrator (LFCS) and the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) exams.
Cloud spending continues to climb globally, resulting in even more jobs in the future. In fact, Gartner Inc. predicts that worldwide spending on public cloud services will increase 20.4% (up to $495 billion) this year and will reach nearly $600 billion by the end of 2023.

Chris Pokorni is the founder of NQB8 Cloud Tech Consulting and an independent instructor for The Linux Foundation. Chris holds CKA and CKAD certificates and teaches Kubernetes courses for Administrators and Application Developers. As a consultant for small and global enterprises, Chris led workshops and designed HA Middleware/ESB, Datacenter Monitoring, and Hybrid Cloud Architecture solutions.
What kind of salary can I earn as a cloud engineer?
According to Salary.com, the average cloud engineer salary in the U.S. is $129,692, but the salary range for these professionals can range between $119,544 and $140,411. The average cloud administrator salary is $72,594 but can increase depending upon your experience and where you are employed, among other factors.
Who should enroll in the Cloud Engineer Boot Camp?
There are no prerequisites to enroll, however it is recommended that you be familiar with Linux concepts and command line, package managers, and Git and GitHub. There are no requirements to take the LFCS exam or the CKA exam other than the skills needed to pass the certification exams. This boot camp is ideal for current IT professionals interested in pursuing a career in cloud computing.
What is cloud engineering?
A cloud engineer is an IT professional responsible for any technological duties associated with cloud computing—essentially, they build and maintain cloud infrastructure. For example, these duties could include design, planning, management, maintenance, and support. They also can have more specific roles that include cloud architecting (designing cloud solutions for organizations), development (coding for the cloud), and administration (working with cloud networks).
How long is the Cloud Engineer Boot Camp?
You have six months to complete your boot camp, consisting of 220-course hours where you can interact live with instructors who are experts in the cloud industry.
Why should I earn LFCS and CKA certifications?
According to Cloudwards.net, 94% of all enterprises currently use cloud computing in some form, and the security of cloud computing is the top concern of 75% of these companies. Earning LFCS and CKA certifications proves to employers that you have the skills needed to effectively develop, manage, and secure cloud-based computing activities. As well-recognized certifications, they also serve as a differentiator for professionals already in the field.
How long are LFCS and CKA certifications valid?
Your LFCS certification will be valid for a period of 3 years beginning on the date you first took and passed the exam. You can choose to renew it before the end of its expiration period by retaking the exam or passing a higher-level certification exam.
The CKA certification is also valid for a 3-year period beginning on the date you first take and pass the exam. You will have the option to retake and pass the exam to renew your certification prior to its expiration date.
