Intro to Screenwriting

What do all movies, sitcoms, and HBO dramas have in common? They were written by a screenwriter! Welcome to Intro to Screenwriting, where you’ll get to hone your craft and write a script for a television show of your choice. You’ll learn how to format for industry standards, get feedback on your writing, and connect with other people who share your passion for storytelling!

  – Share your completed television script
  – If you’re interested, learn about screenwriting opportunities and contests

Who is your Trainer? Hayley Nelson has a BFA in television writing and production from Chapman University. She is a member of Women in Animation. She wrote for Life’s Little Lies, a TikTok series produced by Hank Green’s production company, Complexly. Her project Meet the Pirates was a selected script at the Houston Comedy Film Festival in 2022. She taught Creative Writing at St. Paul’s Summer School. Most recently, she worked as an assistant at Brook Forest Entertainment, a comedy management company.
