Let’s Make a Purse!

In this class you will learn to use cork material to make a beautiful handbag called the Magnolia Bucket Bag. This purse is 9 ½” wide, 12” high and 5 ½” deep. You will love the professional look of this bag and people will want to know where you got it. How proud will you be when you say, “I made it myself!”

This class is taught by Juanita Cairns. Juanita is a local fabric artist who has taught at many local quilt shops from Bakersfield to Fresno. She also has her own sewing studio called Juanita’s Studio where she teaches quilting and embroidery classes. She will join the COS adjunct faculty in the fall teaching beginning sewing in the evening.

• 1 – 25” X 27” piece of cork fabric for bag bottom, top, base, strap, and drawstring
• 1 – 10” X 27” piece of contrast cork for center panel
• ½ yard cotton fabric for lining and pocket
• 1/4 yard woven interfacing (Pellon SF101)
• 1/3 yard fusible fleece
• 6X10 piece of Pellon Peltex
• 1 – 9” zipper for interior pocket
